I also organise and file my sent items in other folders (or labels in gmail's case) and when I go searching for them some day or so after, I would find them. The issue only happens when I send an email. Simply select gmail, enter the email/password and all server settings are done for you. The email is a gmail account, so its very simple when setting up the profile. I am using outlook 2016 (office 365) on my Mac running latest OS. ![]() I have done what you mentioned above but I guess I have to send another email to be sure.
